Small businesses are looking positive about 2011

A recent survery of 1,120 small businesses has shown that 2/3 of you are feeling confident about financial success in 2011.

The survey, conducted by HR service PeoplePerHour.com, says that 64 per cent of small businesses are feeling optimistic about the UKs economic future.

CEO and founder of PeoplePerHour.com Xenios Thrasyvoulou, says: ‘Despite the gloomy economic forecasts, small businesses are sailing into the New Year with a healthy degree of optimism.’

Those businesses that were concerned about the next 12 months cited over-reliance on the financial services sector (28.7 per cent) and increased competition from emerging markets (22.5 per cent) as their big concerns.

Inspira’s managing director Sue Higgins says: “It is great that so many businesses are starting to feel more confident and positive about their financial status. 2011 will be an interesting year, as we start to see the impact of a series of tough financial decisions made by our new coalition government, as well as a rise in VAT and a possible rise in interest rates further on in the year. It’s important in these changing times to make sure your structures and systems are as robust as possible, enabling you to try new avenues, whilst maintaining your distinctiveness with everything you do.”
