The Importance of Instinct

A recent study undertaken by T-mobile has found that the majority of small businesses rely on gut instinct to make decisions about the future of their business.

This research questioned over 2,000 companies and found that, over half the owners of small businesses rely on gut instinct as opposed to data to make their decisions.

At Inspira we believe that strong leadership, based on experience and a good head for business is vital for any company, especially small businesses. Being able to take all the facts and add to that your experience over the years is a valuable asset to have. However, it is important to remember that making decisions about your business on your own, without the proper facts can lead to trouble.

The crucial thing is to balance instinct and initiative with what your team and your data is telling you. One of the benefits of running a small business is freedom of thought and the opportunity to innovate quickly without the need for extensive process analysis and strategy planning. However this isn’t a carte blanche to make decisions on a whim!
